I’m going to give it a go. Hopefully it’s a lighter option for running Windows apps in a VM.

I’m interested in hearing about your experience with this. I’m curious about these sort of tools, but also wary of them. This one specifically states:
My main goal is to use only Microsoft utilities like DISM, and no utilities from external sources.
That’s a great goal, and makes me a little more comfortable than some of the options involving third party “tweaking” tools or external scripts. You never know what you’re going to get there…
Windows 11 has become outright obnoxious with all the bundled garbage, and requirement for MS account becoming increasingly difficult to bypass. I occasionally need to run Win11 for specific utilities so something like this might be a good option - I’m curious to hear how it goes when you get a chance to try it!
I deleted my Windows 10 VMs recently but kept the W11 for occasional testing purposes.
For those interested It is possible to install Windows 11 without all Microsoft’s tentacles reaching into your machine. There are Utubes on how to do it but it involves secret keys (key combinations) and rebooting at various stages during the installation.
I’ve only used Windows in a VM for the 20 years and am not a gamer so can’t speak to the VM’s capabilities for that.
