The Lonely Hearts AI Club

Ever heard of “eliza” ? She was a early PC voice chat program that caused quite a stir when lots of secretaries swore she was alive and not just a program!

Eliza is a computer program created in the early 1960s by Joseph Weizenbaum, a professor of computer science at MIT. It was one of the first natural
language processing programs and is considered an early precursor to modern chatbots.

### Key Points about Eliza:
- **Purpose**: Eliza was designed to simulate a Rogerian psychotherapist, engaging in conversation with users and responding in a way that mimicked
the therapeutic approach of listening and rephrasing user statements.
- **Functionality**: The program used simple pattern matching and substitution rules to generate responses. It did not understand the meaning of the
words but could transform input text into output text that appeared thoughtful.
- **Impact**: Eliza demonstrated the potential for computers to engage in human-like conversation, which sparked interest in natural language
processing and artificial intelligence.

Eliza is often cited as an early example of how machines can simulate human interaction, although it was quite limited by today's standards.

Have I got a treat for you ! Eliza’s modern replacement is here, and not only does she have the most realistic sexy female voice, she knows a lot about everything, like any modern AI !

Have a online chat with her now I guarantee you’ll be impressed. Ask her what she thinks might be at the end of the universe ?

I used my webcam microphone via the Brave-Browser, but I’m sure other webbrowsers work also.

Choose “Maya” from the two voice choice.

I asked Maya if she could sing any Russian songs, she said she knew a Russian poem about a bear and recited it for me in perfect Russian

Yes, but does she really understand your problems.

The way my ex-wife did ?

Good point, Terry. After all what is an ex-wife but a biological analog of a compassionate IT girlfriend whom, at least, you know doesn’t hate you.
