Meeting 25 June - Carindale Library

We are gathering tomorrow night at Carindale Library at 6.30 p.m. James, inspired by the @techman, is talking about his progress with Opencode and lower cost models.

The second half of the meeting is devoted to Home Assistant - Show and Tell.

At previous meetings I have seen glimpses of what others have running and thought I should have a go at that. However, by the end of the meeting I have forgotten most, if not all, of the things I wanted to try.

If you’re running Home Assistant please “bring along” your favourite apps. There will no doubt be duplicates but those can be skipped if already presented.

I’m looking forward to @Belfry and @Bryan’s hot recommendations.

Sorry to be missing this, as Carindale is a bit far for me. Hopefully @jdownie can enlighten me on OpenCode the next time we meet in Chermside.

We’ll be sorry to miss you Siva.

We’re also at Carindale next month with Baz from BneBitDevs on bitcoin in the homelab but we’re north side in August at Everton Park with Arjen on Repair Cafe and and the Everything Open conference. I hope thats not too far from you.

Yes, Everton Park is pretty close. See you in August!

We have website discussion and future topics on the agenda for tonight’s meeting and with a view to that I’d like to give a shout out to @jdownie for compiling the list of possible future topics.

Perhaps at the meeting we can get a feel for what would be popular future topics or you can also make suggestions here. (In that vein I would be interested to hear from anyone about running talos with ArgoCD in their cluster or, more generally, IaaS.)

@jdownie I thought it would be good if we could have a community editable document for future talks. Claude suggested hedgedoc.

Finally I would like to propose that we trial the HLB listserver for meeting notifications. This in itself is not controversial but I propose that all Discourse users who have been active in the last three months be invited to join the list (by replying to the invite email). Members can ignore it if they do not wish to be on the list.

People are rightly “thingy” about unsolicited email but at least it’s to those who were inclined to sign up to HLB in the first place.

I won’t be able to make tonight, sorry, as I’ve had a last minute family commitment come up.

Hope the presentations and discussions go well - will catch you all on the Jitsi call in a few weeks and then at Carindale in August .
