AI pair programming in your terminal

Goose was fun, even if NixOS only had an ancient version in its repo and flatly refused to run Qwen3-coder.

However Aider runs Qwen3-coder:30b-a3b-fp16 without complaint.

At an image size of 61GB, qwen3-coder:30b-a3b-fp1 is serious coding business.

Check it out on https://aider.chat/

A Few Notes, Aider:

  1. Requires explicit permission to access any file, it can’t run amok …
  2. Goes for it as soon as you give it permission, so watch out.
  3. Has its own built-in Git Repo and commits every action.

Aider keeps it own Git Repo!

I really feel that with ‘Aider’ I’ve moved from ‘Vibe Coding’ to ‘Pair Programming’, this is an example of why that is. The AI is ‘deepseek-r1:14b-qwen-distill-fp16’.
