It might be time for us to knock up a logo for our group. I really just want something to put on our web page as a favicon.ico, but it does flag that we could do with some kind of “branding” anyway.
I’m hoping that some of you are proficient with ai image generation and could knock out some candidates for us to collectively choose from at our next Jitsi meeting.
I’m still playing around with this. I’m not sure i’m in love with the beaker/house that i got from ChatGPT before my quota ran out, so i’ll play with that a little bit. I’m also wrestling with how to use colour effectively. Anyway, this is just a little progress update.
My attempt using ChatGPT this afternoon. I like the inclusion of the story bridge, but tried to incorporate a soldering iron, code, and computing. I doubt it would scale to favicon size very well!
Your design looked a bit like a beaker with the storey bridge as a roof. I’ve tried to build on that, but struggled to make the roof look good.
I think the colours will make this distinctive enough to be recognisable at low resolution, but that upside down wifi idea looks a bit forced.
I think i’m close, but i’d love something better for the roof. My only other idea is two mouse cursors (mirrored) but i think that’ll look a bit forced too.
Anybody got anything they’d like to add to this thread? I can ask for more or less of something if we’d like to keep going, hopefully finding something better.
Perhaps a really simple version (no HLB lettering, no lights on the servers, etc.) with just the river, the house, and the grey rectangles for the servers. Not to replace the main logo, but something that will embroider or go into a favicon and so on. A secondary version for those niche use cases that need really low detail more than anything else.
Well, i reckon i can make that kind of variation with Gimp once we’ve settled on the overall design. The river’s probably the only weak point because i don’t think it’s distinctly “Brisbane”. I’ve just added another variation to the chat thread with ChatGPT. Can you guys see the latest variation if you refresh that link that i posted earlier.
