Our Next Online Meetup

@zeeclor is available Mon 9 June to Thu 12 June for an online meetup. I’m available any of those nights, but Tue 10 June “feels” like a good night to me. Any other votes before i publish a date on meetup.com?

Last night was fun seeing and hearing a bit from @Belfry. I’m guilty of indulging in a little gadget lust while handling his LilyGo T-Deck. I don’t suppose i can talk @Belfry and @techman to do a little show and tell with their hardware projects? @techman and I tend to fill the agenda with software focused stuff, and it’s nice to listen to stuff that is out of my comfort zone.

Sure, but atm my focus is on building my AI PC and my NAS so I can get back to maintaining my badly neglected website.

Also, my projects are all electronics in nature as I’m an electronics guy, (not a software one, tho I have to do a lot of software to support the hardware) and all my projects tend to be totally uninteresting to the laman because of their complexity.

For instance I’m doing a number of designs atm, one is a ‘hotmelt pencil’. It’s battery (18650) powered and delivers a small measured amount of hotmelt glue for precision jobs.
That may sound interesting, but the design sure won’t be as it involves a miniature central self oscillating power inverter which:

  • supplies the high frequency AC to excite a Linear Variable Transformer which measures the quantity of hotmelt delivered.
  • delivers the low voltage, high current power to the nicrome heating wire surrounding the hotmelt pellet
  • powers the STM32F051 MCU that controls the whole process including measuring the temperature (via a LMT01 temperature sensor) using the Forth operating system.

While I love all of this stuff, I have found that talk of such things inspires instant tiredness and distraction among 99.99% of the population

So we will have to see if I can find something interesting to the layman ?

10th works for me for an online meet, @jdownie. +1 vote

Happy to put together a bit of a talk on one or more topics, although I think last night’s chat with the T-Deck in front of us already covered my entire knowledge and experience with Meshtastic so far!
