Manus AI: Your Secret Weapon for Getting lowest prices on *ANYTHING* online!

Amazing! I just received my Manus AI free beta account (about 2 weeks after applying) and tried it with the following query:

“explore arrow.com and find the cheapest stm32f051 mcu pricing for a model with 64kb flash in ufn32 package”

Manus did all kinds of stuff including getting the specs from pdf datasheets to find the right models etc. Normally I would spend heaps of time using a browser online to visit all the sites and collate/compare pricing.

Note that I asked it to find the cheapest price at Arrow.com, but it searched and tabulated all the common chip suppliers plus Ebay and Amazon without being asked !

Imagine the things you could find the lowest price/best customer service/most reliable brand for ?

  • SUV electric vehicle
  • Washing machine
  • AI PC, ready made
  • GPU suitable for running local AI

Or something completely different ?

  • list all towns at risk of severe flooding in Australia.
  • chart typical rent amounts (high to low) for 2 bedroom houses in every town in Australia and vacancy rates
  • Find the best areas for jobs in your profession in Australia and their typical salaries

Cheers, Terry

That’s fantastic - very handy to be able to grab and interpret data like that! I’ve not heard of Manus and will have to have a look into it.

I’ve been a bit time poor over the last few weeks but have been curious about implementing something like Enhancing Local LLMs: Give Your Local LLM Internet Access Using Python | by Emir Sahin | Medium with the local proof of concept Ollama setup here. I wonder whether that would perform similarly with one of the local models?

I think Internet access will become easy for AI in time and then there will be a new class of users blocking all the ‘internet tubes’

Probably the difference between Manus and giving llama3 internet access is all the extra stuff that Manus does to achieve its goals such as reading PDF techdata and so on.

Manus seems to have all the needed tools built in so the user doesn’t have to do anything, and in a situation where ‘time to market’ is worth millions of dollars, speed is everything.

For instance, perhaps you’re selling your car ? Manus can find the actual price range of cars like yours for sale, in your area, or your country in a few minutes by scanning all the online adverts for sale car etc. This allows you to price your car cheaper if a speedy sale is the aim.
You could also ask Manus to create a chart of asking price v/s time to sell, so you know what to expect etc.

The common man has never had this kind of service easily available, as far as I know.

Hi Terry
Wow, thats brilliant! I have used Chat GPT to make a list of GPUs that would suit this machine, with the market price. This was interesting, however, Manus will take this to the next level.
cheers!

Great stuff @techman. I’ve been using perplexity as my RAG for several months. I noted the example given by @belfry on medium last week but your demonstration is much more complicated and practical.

The R (retrieval part) of your RAG has been curtailed to some extent by the surveyed websites. I guess they want the human to go onto their website, find something acceptable and give up on looking for a better deal because it is extra work. However this may not be a good long term strategy due to competitive pressures.

RAGs are not perfect so maintaining some skepticism is wise. “Trust but verify” remains a good aphorism.
